We as an American society have failed our children, that’s why there are not enough prisons, and the court systems are overwhelmed.

- How are these programs similar?
These programs are similar in the way
that they all allow an inmate to escape the walls of containment through the
escape using the mind and imagination to engage in something that they could of
easily been born with the desire for in their spirit and through one of these
programs they can now practice and express themselves through in which they
could of never been able to because of social, economical or class status that
let them to a life of crime in the first place. But we are learning a lot as a
society of what is important in one mans life and what depravity of the
practice of natural born talents and gifts can do to a person, like turn a
person into a criminal if these natural born gifts and talents are not nurtured
from a very young age. It leads me to believe that the educational system in
our country is broken and faulty. These programs should start in preschool into
elementary, middle school and into high school where these nurtured and matured
gifts, talents and personalities have been groomed to fullness in a young
adult. Now would this young adult have the desire to rebel at a young age if
these programs were part of his/her life? I don’t think so, they are doing what
they were born to do and are passionate about it and will not drift away from
it to an empty, dead life of crime and drug addiction.
- How will these programs keep an offender from returning to prison?
If the offender has the support,
he/she needs to continue in his newly found inspiration and passion through a
program in prison, he/she will be too preoccupied with his/her passion to even
think of going out to use or commit a crime. And possibly use this to give back
to others who also need the support so that that young person doesn’t have to
rely on the streets and become an offender and or drug addict.
- Do you think it would be helpful to have these types of programs in
more prisons? Why or why not?
I think that society is already
learning that these programs don’t only belong in prison where the program
could have been useful for the convict/offender when he/she was a child. These
programs are useful because they help the offender find him/herself. Discover
themselves which should have happened when they were in preschool and on in their
school years before they lost themselves to the streets, drugs, and a life of
crime.
- Which program do you think would be the easiest to implement? Why?
All programs such as the programs we have seen in the video:
https://youtu.be/XmqL65ZBx44?si=QeAAe-x4eT4YIRvD should be implemented in prisons, jails and
K-12 grade. We need to learn as educators to find the child’s natural born
gifts and talents in preschool and nurture it throughout the school life of the
child and then we won’t need to build more prisons and lock every one up
because the consequences of a broken education system in the United States of
America are evident today. We as an American society have failed our children,
that’s why there are not enough prisons, and the court systems are overwhelmed.
